FAQ

What is the difference between a Tattoo, Microblading, and Permanent Makeup?

Nothing! Only the method used. Tattooing is the process of implanting ink beneath the surface of the skin by means of a small, sterile, disposable needle to produce artwork, the appearance of fuller eyebrows and enhance the facial features. Microblading is done with a non motorized hand tool with a needle grouping at the end, tattoos and permanent makeup are done with a tattoo machine, but all are tattoos and are no considered semi permanent at all. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong-o and misinformed.

Can I see the design or coming in for a consult before my appointment?

Artistic tattoo designs are not sent to any client’s prior. Discussion of scope of work and details involved are discussed fully before booking a body tattoo. The artwork is then shown to the client at the time of their scheduled appointment. Any changes or alterations can be done then before we start.

Consults are usually done at the beginning of any permanent makeup appointment, but can be requested to come in for a consult before booking. You’re welcome to email with any questions prior to booking.

How long does a permanent makeup/cosmetic tattoo last?

All tattooing will fade over time but will never completely go away. Permanent Makeup in particular may need a follow up every 2-5 years on average depending on multiple factors. Frequency of follow ups depends on a number of factors including: the ink color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure, sweat), iron deficiency, various medications, and if any chemical peels or other evasive skincare come into contact with tattooed areas. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type and client lifestyle and genetic factors will hold ink differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.   If a follow up appointment is requested, the artist will re-evaluate how your skin has retained the ink and make any changes necessary.

Is the follow up appointment included?

Yes one follow up appt is included.

Does tattooing/cosmetic tattoo hurt?

It is industry standard to include topical lidocaine numbing for all cosmetic tattooing to keep it as pain-free as possible. Although pain varies from person to person based on many factors, most of our clients consider their pain level to be minimal or more of a “discomfort” than “pain.” Since body art tattooing usually comprises of a larger area, it is not typical to include numbing for an appointment. If you want to numb the area for your tattoo appointment, you would need to procure it yourself and apply it according to instructions before your appt. DO NOT use any topical numbing that is not specifically made for tattooing. I recommend HUSH TATTOO ANESTHETIC products which you can buy on amazon. Even so, depending on your session length, expect some pain or discomfort as the numbing affect will wear off.
